Save the Children, Local Answers - Youth At Risk

As part of the Government's Local Answers Initiative, the Youth At Risk Wyndham Project, is funded by the State Department of Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaCSIA).

The project will assist young people aged 12-19 to become involved in community life through participation in voluntary peer education, leadership training and life skills programs.  As well as training and suppport in work-readiness and job placement programs.  It also helps young parents access support, training and education.

In partnership with Wyndhams Joorook Ngarni Aboriginal Corperation, Save the Children will be working with young people both in and out of school in Wyndham.  Helping them to build confidence and life skills, as well as providing tailored pathways for training and employment.

Save the Children also plans to work in partnership with other locally based organisations to counter the scarcity of positive local indigenous role models and build community capacity.
